Birdlife Salzburg tries hard to protect endangered species of birds. This doesn‘t concern only the Redspotted Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica svecica) in the alps, it also involves birds, breeding in the meadows like the Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra).

In former times, it was one of the most common birds in the agricultural landscape. Today, we find it only in Lungau and Pinzgau in higher grounds.

Also the Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) needs our help. All birds breading in the meadow, are very endangered because of the modern agriculture with its frequently mowing.
